About
The U.S. economy affects your business every day — your loan rates, your supply costs, your customers' spending. But most economic data is locked behind jargon, paywalls, or dashboards built for Wall Street. USBaseline fixes that.
USBaseline is a free economic data site for U.S. small business owners. We pull live data from trusted government sources — the Federal Reserve (FRED), the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the U.S. Treasury — and present it in plain language. No jargon. No subscription. No agenda.
We track the indicators that actually affect your business: inflation, interest rates, unemployment, credit conditions, commodity prices, and more. Our goal is to give you the same economic picture that banks, investors, and policymakers are looking at — translated into something actionable for a restaurant owner, contractor, or retailer.
All economic indicators on USBaseline are fetched in real time from public government APIs — primarily FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis). We do not adjust, smooth, or editorialize the underlying numbers. What FRED reports, we display. Data is labeled with the date of the most recent available release so you always know how current a figure is.
Where figures are subject to revision (as many government releases are), we note that context in the relevant articles. When data points conflict across sources, we cite the source we're using.
Articles and briefings on USBaseline are produced with the assistance of AI writing tools, using live economic data fetched at the time of publication. Every article is reviewed for factual accuracy — data figures are checked against the underlying FRED API responses before publication.
Our editorial goal is practical clarity: explain what a number means, why it changed, and what a small business owner might want to think about as a result. We do not tell you what to do with your money. That's what your accountant or financial advisor is for.
Articles are dated and include the specific data release dates they reference. As the underlying data is revised or updated, older articles may not reflect the most current figures — always check the live dashboard for the latest numbers.
USBaseline is not a financial advisor, broker, or investment service. Nothing on this site is personalized advice for your situation. We are a data and education publisher.
